Mitford Parish Council

Cricket Club

One of the oldest cricket clubs in Northumberland, our earliest recorded match was reported in an 1872 edition of the Morpeth Herald.  We are a small club with a big heart; new members and players are always welcomed and quickly feel at home.  Our picturesque ground is located to the west of the village adjacent to the entrance to Mitford Hall and has benefited from substantial investment in recent years with a new pavilion, all weather nets and mobile pitch covers.

The Club offers cricket for a wide range of abilities – we have three weekend teams, two Saturday teams in the West Tyne League, and a Sunday team in the Hetton Lyons League;  we also play mid-week cricket in the North East Midweek League, and play several Sunday friendly fixtures.   Senior practice is on Friday evenings and junior coaching is every Monday evening – both are run by qualified coaches.

We had a successful 2015 season, winning both the Hetton Lyons division 2 and North East Midweek division 3 titles; we were runners up in West Tyne division 2, and won both the Hetton Lyons and West Tyne T20 competitions.
